Surfing YouTube has its perks when you can discover something educational and groundbreaking, like the Nopia Midi, which will be the future of music production. What grabbed me was the design of the Nopia, which gives a futuristic art deco simplistic vibe, and Martin, the creator’s chill delivery.
The Nopia Midi is an innovative music device that looks like other midi analog controllers. It helps compose beats and samples through cords, synths, and percussion mapped buttons.
The Nopia bases its whole inception on tonal harmony. Tonal Harmony focuses on the relationship between chords, particularly the relationship between the home tone and the fifth note in the key. The other relationship in tonal harmony is between consonance (musical rest) and dissonance (musical movement or tension). Most music we listen to today is tonal.
Nopia’s Innovation is a one stop shop
To all the Beat ministers out there, the headache of so many devices, plugins, and apps can be done with just one device off of the concept of tonal harmony. The concept of tonal harmony inspired Martin to break notes down into degrees for the device.
