Netflix has nicked a deal with Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation to bring us a whole new straight-to-series race driven genre to the Netflix audience exclusively based upon a report from Hollywood Reporter. Apparently the Synopsis of the untitled series is:

The Fast and the Furious animated show revolves around teenager Tony Toretto, who follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination.

The series is executive produced by Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz and Chris Morgan who also serve as producers on the live-action Fast and the Furious franchise.

My Thoughts

I personally believe this will be an great expansion to the Fast and Furious universes especially considering the strive for the makers of the Fast franchise to expand upon the characters within the universe. Take for an example the dope spin-off “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” which released in 2006 and was technically the future in the timeline of the Fast franchise that Fast 4-7 tied all plot roads and the death of a main character. My only critisim of this Fast & Furious animated series seems to be far to similar to the current plots of the main franchise and hopefully will not come off as a simple cheap replicate of the silver screen outings. However hopefully interesting tie ins will be explored from the cartoon to the films.

Don’t forget the upcoming “Hobbs And Shaw” film slated for July 26, 2019
