The Edge of Fate Launches Today
Bungie officially launched Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, the first expansion in the Year of Prophecy and the start of the Fate Saga. This marks a major step in Destiny 2’s evolving universe with a brand-new campaign, destination, and powerful system updates available now.
Explore Kepler: A New Destination Full of Secrets
The campaign unfolds on Kepler, a mysterious new world divided into four distinct regions. Each zone offers dynamic encounters and unlockable secrets. Guardians gain access to new traversal and puzzle-solving tools:
- Matterspark: Transform into energy to move swiftly across terrain.
- Mattermorph: Adapt and interact with the environment in new ways.
- Relocator Cannon: Launch through areas for advanced mobility and puzzle access.
The Nine Return and a New Threat Emerges
Players reconnect with the mysterious Nine and meet Lodi, a new ally. Alongside Ikora Rey, they face an ancient force that predates the Traveler, uncovering secrets that challenge the foundation of Destiny’s lore.
World Tier System Offers New Challenges
The campaign introduces a World Tier system, starting with Brave and Legendary modes. Completing the campaign unlocks Fabled and Mythic tiers, allowing for Power scaling and high-reward gameplay.
Core Game Updates for All Players
All players now have streamlined access to content via The Portal, a refreshed UI featuring:
- Fireteam Ops
- Pinnacle Ops
- Crucible Ops
- Solo Ops – designed for short, self-contained missions.
Armor 3.0 and Set Bonuses Debut
Armor 3.0 delivers a full system overhaul focused on deeper buildcrafting. New mods and tuning reward gear investment. Matching armor sets now unlock unique bonuses for additional layers of customization.
New Exotic Armor Across All Classes
- Hunter – Moirai Webcatcher Vest: Throw a Threaded Spike to detonate and reclaim tangles.
- Titan – Melas Panoplia Gauntlets: Recall your throwing hammer with timed explosions.
- Warlock – Eunoia Gauntlets: Boost Hellion damage and scorch enemies from afar.
Legendary Weapons and Transparent Gear Tiering
New weapon archetypes include:
- A Crossbow with reclaimable ammo
- A Spread Shot Hand Cannon
- A Longbow with overpenetration
- A Rocket-assisted Pulse Rifle
Gear now follows a transparent tier system, and buildcrafting leans heavily into weapon-centric perks.
The Desert Perpetual Raid Arrives July 19
The next Destiny 2 raid, The Desert Perpetual, launches July 19 at 10:00 AM PDT. Available to players who complete the expansion’s campaign, this endgame activity challenges teams of six to conquer puzzles and combat trials.
The World First Race begins at launch in Contest Mode, capping player power and boosting enemy difficulty. The first fireteam to finish will earn exclusive raid belts.
Tune In and Earn Twitch Drops
From 6:45 AM PDT, Bungie will stream the World First pre-show and a partnered Raid Watch Along featuring Evanf1997 and CBGray. Watching eligible Twitch streams for one hour during the race (6 AM – 6 PM PDT) unlocks the Power Hues emblem.
